H4L® FUI®

H4L16It’s a no touch Method, where in Follicles are extracted from the back of the scalp and implanted follicle by follicle on the recipient or bald area.
Follicular Unit Implantation is a procedure in which small clusters of hairs or ‘follicular units’ are removed from the donor area of hair and inserted into the recipient area (the bald area of your head). These are naturally occurring units which if implanted well, will replicate this natural growth in the recipient area of the scalp.

In other words, there will not be any unsightly clumps or corn rows of hairs as seen in older techniques. These grafts are very small and can be inserted into tiny recipient areas on the scalp. This is a minimally invasive procedure with a brief recovery period and no complications. However, it takes a great deal of experience and skill on the part of the surgeon which is acquired, only after years of practice.

The FUI® procedure

This involves placing the follicular units in the following manner:

  • Places single hair units at the front of your hairline
  • Places 2 hair units behind the hairline
  • Places 3 hair units behind the 2 hair units
  • Then places 4 hair units behind the 3 hair units

This will produce a natural looking appearance and the right amount of hair density without the risk of ‘plugginess’. Plugginess occurs when groups of hair are arranged in corn rows or tufts which often look like the hair seen on a child’s doll.

You will have an initial consultation with our Complete Care Expert to discuss all aspects of the procedure. This includes a frank and honest discussion about what you can expect and whether this is likely to meet your expectations. If you are satisfied with this consultation then it’s a case of arranging a date with our surgeon for your procedure. Our surgeon will give you a set of ‘pre-operative’ instructions and ‘post-operative guidelines to follow which includes stopping of smoking (if you are a smoker), stopping of any medications such as aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs and massaging your scalp.

FUI® is a 1 day procedure and is performed under a local anesthetic. The hair in the area where the units will be removed will be trimmed to enable easier access. Our surgeon will then inject a local anesthetic into the donor area of your scalp which will numb the area. He/she will then remove or extract these units follicle by follicle. This is done in a particular pattern known as a ‘spread arrangement’ so that it is difficult to tell which hairs have been removed. Surgeon will use a microscope whilst doing so to prevent the risk of damage to other hair follicles. These units are removed follicle by follicle for micro-dissection (under a microscope) before implantation. The extraction is done from the center of the donor area which enables him/her to obtain a large amount of follicles for Implantation.

He or she will then inject an anesthetic into the recipient area (bald area of your scalp) and will use a specially designed micro-needle or Implanters to insert the follicular units into the scalp. These hairs will then grow as per usual. A maximum of 4,000 hairs can be implanted in a single session. With FUI® (Follicular Unit Implantation) each follicle is implanted follicle by follicle to the recipient area that needs to be filled. We keep in mind the natural aspect of proper depth at which it is implanted, direction with an angle in which the follicle should grow to give it more natural looking results. This will not only give 100% natural results however it also ensures that the planted hair will continue to grow for life without any maintenance.
